Your rights if the wind gets you
Under EU261 and UK261, strong wind is normally treated as an extraordinary circumstance, so airlines usually don't owe the fixed €250 to €600 compensation. Claim sites don't always make that clear.
Your other rights still apply when a flight is cancelled, whatever the cause:
- A choice between a refund, or rerouting to your destination at the earliest opportunity
- Meals and refreshments while you wait
- A hotel and transport to it if you're stuck overnight
